Mr. Kim advises the Investment Committee on how best to develop portfolio solutions for Cornerstone’s high net worth, family office and institutional investors. With over 20 years of experience in the asset management industry, Mr. Kim provides guidance of various bespoke structures designed to work with potential joint venture partners, syndicate deal investors, and/or traditional limited partners.
Mr. Kim currently serves as the President and Chief Investment Officer at The Agnew Company, an investment company serving a multi-generational single family office, focused on timberlands, commercial real estate, private equity, and public securities. Prior to joining The Agnew Company, Mr. Kim was the Chief Investment Officer for a Chicago-based founder family office focused on traditional and alternative investments with an emphasis on commercial real estate, energy and other real assets. Mr. Kim was also the Managing Director for Ontario Partners Fund, a fund of funds and strategic alliance partner with allocations to private investment strategies. He began his career at Bear Stearns & Co, in fixed income derivatives and with Motorola, in research and development. Part of the work Mr. Kim accomplished as a quantitative finance research scientist was eventually sold to Old Mutual plc.
Mr. Kim received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with Distinction (i.e. summa cum laude) from Cornell University and earned a Ph.D. from The University of Chicago. He is a CAIA Charterholder and holds a Series 3 NFA license. Mr. Kim serves as an advisor on several not-for-profit organizations including Council Member for the Humanities Division at The University of Chicago and Chicago Committee Member for the Renaissance Society.
